Plan your Move

• Call Aloha for an appointment for a free estimate
• Schedule donations, garage sale for items you don't want to move
• Find original boxes for stereo, TV, other electronics, if possible
• Boxes: 150 is the average. We can provide packaging.
• Plants: stop watering 3 days before the move
• Books: separate valuable books from others; sell, donate some
• Donations: Aloha can arrange dropoffs and pickup receipts
• Freezer: use up what you can beforehand
• Rugs: have them cleaned and returned rolled-up, if possible
• Storage: will your new home be ready right away? Don't worry, we can store it for you!

Moving Tips

• By law, we may not carry: money, jewelry, drugs, alcohol, weapons, ammo, or flammable material.
• Pack one room at a time. You will feel more organized.
• Label the boxes by room and number the boxes.
• Use towels, pillows, blankets to pad breakable items.
• Put heavy items like books in smaller boxes. Big boxes for light stuff.
  
  
• Light stuff can stay in drawers.
• Pack anything else.
• Wrap lightbulbs and put in box with lamp or shade
• To make sure you have the right hardware when you want to re-assemble your bedframe or table, securely tape the hardware to the disassembled bed frame or tablewhen you take it apart.

Checklist

• Empty fuel from machines to be moved (lawnmowers, barbeque, trimmers)
• Change of address at Post Office, set up mail forwarding
• Bank accounts: close or transfer to new location
• Mail "We've moved" notes
• Termination dates for Utilities (gas, electric, telephone, cable, etc.)
